THE WOMAN WHO CHANGED THE FASHION WORLD

"Fashion is not just about dresses: fashion is something in the air. Fashion is in the sky, the street. Fashion is about ideas, the way we live, what is happening".
Coco Chanel

This week I want to write about Coco Chanel because it is a clear example of entrepreneur's woman. This woman changed the course of fashion and had a unique vision that made her to succeed quickly.

Coco Chanel was the daughter of a salesman and a housewife, both of few resources. Her real name was Gabrielle Chanel. Her nickname “Coco” no one knows for sure where it comes from, but some people said that her aunts called “Coco”, other people said it was a kind of Stage name and another likelihood was that it comes from the word “Cocotte” which means “non-working woman”.
Coco started in the fashion world because women (including Coco) weren’t happy with position in society, and they didn’t like the clothes they had to wear either. One of these people was a Gabrielle Chanel. When she went into business in 1910, she planned change the clothes that women wore. But over the next sixty years she did much more than that, as she became one of the richest and most successful businesswoman of the century.
¿ Do you think that nowadays the world  need women as Coco Chanel with innovative ideas? ¿ Do you think that young people don’t have innovative ideas because they have lost the creativity? ¿Do you think that years ago most things were invented because the needs of people were bigger?
This are some questions to know your opinion and to reflect!

An example of undercover boss. What are the benefits of going undercover in the company you manage?

This week we talk in class about undercover and I think is a good topic to talk in my blog. I hope that you find interesting.
Steven Foster is the co-founder and CEO of Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge, acknowledges that it’s difficult to keep an entertainment-based business growing in a recession. Foster appears on CBS’ Undercover Boss to work with other employees and leave the CEO for a week.
This program provides an opportunity for the leaders of the companies who can work without being the boss for a week. This have a lot of opportunities for theirs because they can find the problems better, improve communication, know the image that the employees have of the company, detect the employee’s needs and many other benefits.
At the end of the TV program the bosses explain to the employees who have been working that they are the boss and that they were undercover. The bosses help employees to fulfill their dreams.

Social networks, friend or enemies of business?

Last week we've been talking about social networks and I think this topic is very interesting to premiere my blog: Social networks, friends or enemies of business?
This video that I post was released by the NGO Greenpeace to denounce the use of palm oil by Nestlé to manufacture his principal product “Kit Kat”. The use of this palm oil leads to destruction of Indonesia's rainforests and the habitat of orangutans.
Nestlé withdraws got Youtube video claiming misuse of its trademark and posted on his Facebook page an entry in which he told his fans that if they made any change in our logo, his publication would be eliminated. This made the followers of social network "revolution against the mark " by the censorship of Nestlé.
This is an example of how poorly managed social networks are an enemy to the company, you should never blame the consumer you have to listen their opinion always.
