THE WOMAN WHO CHANGED THE FASHION WORLD

"Fashion is not just about dresses: fashion is something in the air. Fashion is in the sky, the street. Fashion is about ideas, the way we live, what is happening".
Coco Chanel

This week I want to write about Coco Chanel because it is a clear example of entrepreneur's woman. This woman changed the course of fashion and had a unique vision that made her to succeed quickly.

Coco Chanel was the daughter of a salesman and a housewife, both of few resources. Her real name was Gabrielle Chanel. Her nickname “Coco” no one knows for sure where it comes from, but some people said that her aunts called “Coco”, other people said it was a kind of Stage name and another likelihood was that it comes from the word “Cocotte” which means “non-working woman”.
Coco started in the fashion world because women (including Coco) weren’t happy with position in society, and they didn’t like the clothes they had to wear either. One of these people was a Gabrielle Chanel. When she went into business in 1910, she planned change the clothes that women wore. But over the next sixty years she did much more than that, as she became one of the richest and most successful businesswoman of the century.
¿ Do you think that nowadays the world  need women as Coco Chanel with innovative ideas? ¿ Do you think that young people don’t have innovative ideas because they have lost the creativity? ¿Do you think that years ago most things were invented because the needs of people were bigger?
This are some questions to know your opinion and to reflect!

ARE YOU ADDICTED TO FACEBOOK?

Nowadays Social Networks have a very important role in the society and especially in business. That’s why the companies make efforts to incorporate their products in the most important social networks and to fall in love their current customers and their potential customers through their initiatives. Let’s see and example!

Coca-cola, a international brand recognized world worldwide, see an opportunity in the obsession that young people have with the social networks, like Facebook, and that’s why Coca-Cola launched the Coca-cola Village.  In this event the company gives to their consumers a bracelet with a chip that used to update the Facebook profile to “I like” just approaching the bracelet to a machine!
Do you think that nowadays the people can’t live without social networks?

The noughties was the decade that started on the 1st of January 2000 and ended on the 31st of December 2009. It was the decade in which the 21st century 3rd millennum began.

In the 2000, George W. Bush elected 43rd President of the United States of America after a controversial victory over his rival Al Gore in Florida. In 2001, Two commercial jets are flown into the World Trade Centre, destroying its twin towers, there was a death toll of nearly 3,000 people.  In the 2002, The first coins and notes of the European single currency are introduced into circulation. In the 2003, The Space Shuttle Columbia, launched just a week beforehand, disintegrates on re-entry to earth’s orbit killing all seven crewmembers. In the 2004, The social networking site Facebook is launched from the bedroom of Mark Zuckerberg, a Harvard University student. In the 2005, Pope John Paul II dies. In 2006, North Korea’s announcement that it has tested its first nuclear weapon is met with worldwide condemnation.  In the 2007, Harry Potter’s final outing in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows becomes the fastest-selling book, with more than 11 million copies bought in the first 24 hours. In the 2008, Barack Obama is elected as the first black President of the United states of America under the slogan “Hope”. And finally, in the 2009, Michael Jackson dies at home aged 50.
